Wanna b pranked..visit Prankster !!

Want to relive your college days…yesss !! So visit this college based theme restaurant is Sector 29 , Gurgaon. Its till date my fav & best theme based restaurant , with amazing decor and quite spacious. Sector 29 is the fast growing market of Gurgaon with so many restaurants. Prankster is a colossal single floor restaurant with school based theme.

As I step into the lobby, a large upside down red horse welcomes me glasses on all side. The stairs had an amazing led decoration of upside down images and a notice board just like in school days.An old camera with roll developed at the corner. Inside the restaurant they have varied sections like the Classroom, Library, Chemistry Lab, Canteen, Parking Lot,  Amphitheater, etc. Its also called the Food & Brewery campus of Gurgaon 🙂 . The interiors at Prankster are gracefully done with chemistry lab section having images emblazoned on the walls, beakers set with blooming plants, library setup done with chandelier created out of open books, table lamps set on pile of books and a high definition projector to view media, bunker beds, the amphitheater with the multi level seating & the parking lot with a line up of  Lambretta scooters converted into comfortable seats with backrest with tables settled mid & a jeepsy. The seating is appt to section and very comfortable. Library has chairs on both side of a long table with beautiful lamp shades while the chemistry lab does the same with high stools .Unlikely classroom section has seats joined to tables, taking us back to school memories.

They have a big bar section with

We has our seating inside the classroom which has a blackboard, high definition projector, a multi coloured painting of Einstein and lamp shades made by using big paint brushes. More than anything, Prankster surprises you with its unparalleled innovation serving the “nostalgic progressive cuisine”, connecting the foodies with their nostalgic years memories in modern way.

To start with in Veg, we had Nitro cooked Dahi Bhalla, Papdi (4/5) which is an ice-cream that has the exact flavor of dahi bhalla, believe it or not, its a savory dish. Basically its a bhalla mixed with curd ,chilled icecream balls, flavored with dehydrated tamarind chutney and a -20 degree nitro papri. Authentic being crunchy !!  Pao Bhaji Zinker Burger(5/5) is another innovative dish which was full of pranks & is similar to mumbai vada pao. Its served inside the Rubik’s cube where some of them are empty. It has same authentic & spicy vadapao flavor with chili chutney. Reminds me of my college canteen tikki bun. Next was Bun Cholle(5/5),  which was closed bun with chickpeas inside. It was very soft and full of flavors. In Non veg , we had Tempura Fried Prawns with Podi (5/5)– crispy fried prawns served on a stainless steel ruler diaognally with flowers around. Tender Tandoori Lamb Chops (5/5) which were scrumptious. Very tender, and at end clear bone was visible served with onion lachchas.

Must mention is the pizza (5/5) which had flakky base just like our canteen aloo patties. It was well cooked & full of crunchiness. Toppings had all fresh veggies. Must try dish.

In Main course we had, Compressed Paneer Barrels in Thai Curry (4/5)  which was thai curry having panner rolls. Very soft and authentic.Daal Makhani (4/5) was again full of flavors and creamy texture.Served with butter lachcha paranthas. You feel like binging on the food here !

In dessert we had Jalebi with Saffron Ice Cream (5/5) – Have no words to express this dish. Love it to the core. Jalebi was plated in 3 forms as in  big jalebi circles, papad and pearls (boondi ) all served with the saffron ice cream. Again a must try here ! Another sweet dish was Rose kheer. It was live presented by Chef Harangad, where he used liquid nitrogen to garnish rose flowers and served over in house kheer.

The food was totally par excellence with its creative twist. Prices are pocket friendly and must visit place house/office parties 🙂

Alchemist..changed my life !!

As per Wiki…The Alchemist is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho which was first published in 1988. Originally written in Portuguese, it has been translated into at least 69 languages as of December 2016.The Alchemist has now sold over 65 million copies – one of the best selling books in history.

Best line i remember from this book is :

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams.”

This book had an everlasting impression in my mind. It definitely motivates everyone, who is reading this book with his heart. The story is about a young man who wanders in pursuit of his dreams and how he achieves his destination unfazed by the fears and failures encountered. The book depicts that we should not consider our fears or failures as a menace. We should learn from them and move ahead of our hurdles. It clearly depicts that one who follows his passion and focus on their journey of dreams always reach its destination of success. This book is a full ocean of motivational quotes and must read for all who think, success is far from them !!

I can relate my life incidents with it and can visualize what i could have gained out of it.

Please do read it and leave your valuable comments !!

Karari Kurry..now at Sohna Road

Karari Curry as the name suggest, its USP is curries. It was first time I ordered my food from here. I placed my order at 6:15pm and got it delivered fresh and hot at 7:30pm. Packaging was perfectly done with side servings had chutney’s , onion and lemon. Curries were sealed in plastic boxes of good quality.

To start with my order, must say, food was scrumptious. I have eaten these same dishes at many places but being served at home, in such a delicious way, I was amazed. We ordered Dal Makhni (4/5) which was very soft and creamy as expected, full of prefect spices and authentic aroma. Karari Kurry Special paneer(4.5/5)- paneer was very soft and perfect thick gravy combo with amazing balance of spices. Malai Kofta (4/5) which was as expected lip smacking and had all authentic flavors.Gravy had a good balance of spices. It was too yummy. In non veg we had tawa chicken(4/5) – very soft, gravy was a perfect mix of flavors, aroma & spices. Chicken was well cooked and marinated. Must try this dish. Along with these we had Lachcha parantha, paneer kulcha and missi roti.

Since no desserts options with them, so will recommend to start please, as dinner without dessert is blank !!

Service(4.5/5). They provide good service to satisfy the customer. In today’s world, if food is not delivered on time, it loses its mark. But they ensured that my food was delivered on time and placed hot. The delivery boy & staff on phone were very humble & professional.

Portions or quantity of food is enough for 2 people , but lil higher rates according to me. Food quality is very good and will recommend to all !!

Niagara Falls of India..Hogenakkal Falls !!

Hogenakkal Falls is a waterfall in South India on the Kaveri river in the Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu.It is located 180 km from Bangalore and 46 km from Dharmapuri.  It was shown beautifully in the movie Roja in the Choti-si Asha song and also in Raavan movie, where Abhishek Bachhan scene is shooted !

Hogenakkal is also called Smoking Rocks ( Hoga meaning smoke and Kal meaning rock). Hogenakkal is the place where the Cauvery river meanders itself through a lot rocks. As a result of water falling on the rocks, it creates a smoky ambiance and hence the name. There are numerous falls all around ranging from as small as 5 feet to more than 20 feet.

Best time to visit: Post Monsoon (Aug to Dec)

Route: Bangalore- Hosur- Dharmapuri- Hogenakkal

Distance: 180kms
Duration: 1 day
Things to do there:

  1. A ride in coracle ,taking it underneath the falls.last thing is swirling the coracle.
  2. A swim and a dip in the river end ( small island)
  3. sit along the rocks to enjoy the smoking effect of falls
  4. Oil massage from locals
  5. Having freshly fried fish, packed stuff, maggi

Staying in bangalore without family, means friends are your family. So we decided with our new family to go for weekend outing. All decided to go to Hogennakal as its a 1 day trip. So we left at 7am in morning with our cars. The travel route has smooth roads ,full of green pastures all around, driving through hills. We took a stop in mid to enjoi food at a south indian dhaba serving idli/sambhar/dosa/vada. Amazing food , must say. We reached Hogenakkal falls at 11am.

Being a weekend, it was quite crowded with kids, families, weekend trippers etc. all over the place. After parking the car we went inside to talk to a coracle owner for charges of the ride. Since they understood we came from far, they started charging us 1000 per person. Trust me, plz bargain, but dont argue. Local people give only 100 per person, so you can finalize at 150 or 200 pp. A coracle ride on the Cauvery waters is a must for all the visitors as it takes you closer to nature and gives a feel of the surroundings and the environment. A boat can have 5 people in max.

After a lot of haggling, all of us jumped into the bamboo tub and got ready for a ride. This area is on borders of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Boat guy took us under a couple of waterfalls and we got drenched while still sitting in the coracle. That was an exhilarating experience. Water here is believed to be therapeutic,so we also took medicinal baths in the river along shores at end.The nearby boatman sold biscuits, wafers, water bottles, tetra-pack juices to the people passing by in other coracles.

Ours was stopped at a bank, where we enjoyed good oil massage in just 100 bucks pp. And after that it was time for a dip in the free flowing Cauvery.  We enjoyed fried fish, maggi, everything being inside the water only. The fishes were caught and instantly prepared by the ladies on the banks. We enjoyed for 5-6 hours there. Our boatman waited for us. Then while returning, he gave us a final feel of Cauvery by swirling the coracle at a good pace in the middle of the river. That swirling of the coracle was the icing on the cake which cannot be explained but only experienced. So close your eyes then and feel it.

If you still have time left and not tired with so much fun, you have some beautiful mandirs/temples in vicinity of 15km. You can visit them before leaving.
