Lockup..Wanna be jailed for food!!

As name suggest, this place gives you new experience of being in a jail and treated with scrumptious food in aluminium plates and bowls. I visited it yesterday with my husband to have dinner & was really impressed with its interiors. They have tried really well to create the quirky rusty ambience with jail bars all over, dim lights and old Aluminium chairs. Walls are decorated with thief’s images and a chain barred thief standing on doorstep to welcome you. They have utilized the space very well, providing 2 floor seating with ample way to walk.

Service was really quick and person in charge ensured everybody is attended on time. Food presentation is tasteful just like its food.We were very hungry so started off with starters along with few mocktails like Oye Bubbly (5/5) – Orange & peach mojito, Melon Fresco (5/5) : Watermelon & mint juice

Food_Coolg

  • Veg Mezze platter (4/5) – crispy falafel, baba ghanoush served iwth soft pita breads and hummus. Decorated nicely using long crispy papdi.
  • Veggie surprise (5/5) – It was a Wrap slight on spicy side, but full of veggies and mayo cheese. must try. Outer crust was
  • Farm house Pizza (5/5) :
  • Jalapeno Poppers (4/5):

With a slight break and our talks, we ordered our main course, Dal Makhani, chicken makhani with breads. Must say the Dal makhani was authentic to its taste with perfect flavors indeed. No artificial added cream. Its gravy was perfect blended with spices.

Big Boys Lounge

Gurgaon Sector 29, is most fast growing market of pubs and lounges. Recently it got a newbie in place next to Prankster, called the “Big Boyz Lounge”.  This place is best for all party poppers who can afford richness 😊as its decorated with expensive interiors and lavishly furnished with huge dance floor next to DJ console to step on right chord.

Its spread over two spacious floors (4th & 5th) with both indoor & outdoor seating available. The Air lounge outside offers mesmerizing view of Leisure Valley accompanied with head-bang on cocktails to be served while seating in comfortable cozy sofas. Lounge offers delicious Continental, North Indian, Chinese and Italian Food. It is a huge property, can withhold easy 200+ people in one go.

It not only offers the best food but also impressive cocktails and yet defines its own exclusive style of a casual, classic lounge and bar. They have Multi global kitchen with World cuisine and fantastic Cocktails Card to slosh at club. They don’t own any brewery, hence the best here is their Cocktails which are a class apart.

  • Big boyz theory
  • Lost in Translation
  • Morning Glory

Being a vegetarian, I was really happy to visit this place as they have so many options to justify my taste. In snacks we tried

  • Saras Potato & corn: Loved the crunchy, veggies (mainly potato) filled rolls mad my day. We repeated the order. It was definetly a winner dish for me & a must try
  • Bagichi Paneer tikka: Tender Panner shots served with in-house sauce. Tasted really good
  • BBL special Shammi kebab : served with chips and sorted veggies, tasted lip smacking , done aptly with spices
  • Spring rolls- Crispy and appetizing rolls which were not at all oily and filled with flavoured veggies.
  • Home-Style Pizza called Naanza was their specialty & tasted amazing.

Food

The main course is again my all tym fav, dal makhni with paneer dishes and served with Lachcha parantha. Everything was authentic to its taste and aptly done.

Servers were quite known about their work and dishes. Service was quick either it be food or mocktails.

Raasta..leading way to food apex @cyber hub

Good Food is my life’s soul and am sure it’s the same for all other foodies reading my blog. I love spending my weekends with friends @ some peaceful place serving delictable food to satiate my hunger. Last weekend we came across one such place, RAASTA, placed at 2nd floor in Cyber hub.

I visited the restaurant with my friends for lunch and it was almost full. The manager gave us the outdoor seating which felt really-warm in winters Sun enjoying on comfortable wooden bamboo chairs. Even the inside ambience is raw with stone walls decorated in quirky and rustic art like cage boxes with heavy chins flowing down carrying different artforms. The menu reflects a fusion of a wide range of cultures and heritages, and many ethnicities that landed on Caribbean shores for the past centuries.

We kicked off our day with signature drinks like Raasta Special (4/5) – mix of strawberry juice, coke, soda &orange juice. It was tangy and quite refreshing. Others we tried were Peach Ice tea(5/5), which again tasted really good and was an icing on the cake. In Cocktails we tried Sangria(5/5) & Mojito (5/5)– which again tasted wow.

Drinks

Next we turned to something healthy and ordered Salads. Salad Caprese (4/5)– it was a mix of veggies like Mushroom/cabbage/bell peppers, served hot and garnished with cheddar cheese. Alon with it we tried our hand on Spanish town chowder Veg (5/5) soup, which was thick and full of veggies. Served with crunchy big crumbs & tasted wow.

Starter_Collage

In Veg, we tried various starters like Reggae reggae Nachoos (10/5) – sorry for wrong marking but have no words for this inhouse preparation. It was scrumptious and lip smacking served with most delicious Salsa sauce I ever had. Jalapeno cheese cigar Rolls(4/5):  It was crispy outside and soft veggies inside, served hot with white sauce. In Paneer dish we tasted, Tandoor roasted cottage cheese(4/5) which was again full of aroma & well flavoured with spices. It was very tender cottage cheese and tasted yummylicious.

In non veg we tried, Fish fingers (5/5),which were tender from inside and crunchy from outside. Served with Mayonnaise and side salads. It tasted so delicious that my veggie friend ate it full thinking its veg rolls 😊.Next we had Rasta chicken poppers(5/5) which is a part of their freshly launched menu. They were crispy balls flooded with flavoured well cooked chicken inside. Smokey hot chicken tikka (5/5) -Well cooked & tender. Served with yellow rice and peanuts. Prawns (3.5/5) – they very lil hard to chew and can be made softer. Fried Calamari Rings(5/5): tasted scrumptious, served with harissa sauce  . Hummus Pita with Roasted Garlic lamb (5/5)– as expected well flavoured with spices and garlic, tender lamb and lip smacking dish.

Main_course

Winner dish for me tonight was Potato wedges(10/5), which were well fried and crunchy outside, served with Mayonnaise. Again a reason for wrong marking as my scale goes waste in front of such dishes. Next we tasted their Half&Half Pizza styles and placed order for Paneer paprika & garden pizza. Pics shows it all. Very tasty

In Main course we had non veg Jambalaya (5/5)-it was rice fried in Caribbean spices and a meal in itself. Red & Green thai curry (4/5)- served with steamed rice. Last but not the least , in desserts, we tried Sticky Toffee Pudding (4/5) & Raasta special brownie with vanilla icecream. Loved them as they satiate my sweet tooth.

Service was really quick and servers were acquiescent, having full knowledge about dishes they served. Highly recommend this place to all food lovers.

Soda Bottle Opener Wala- Reviving Parsi bequest !!

The beauty of Parsi delicacies lies in its simplicity yet the perfect innovative way to braid together Indian and international influences. The assorted mix of Gujarati,  Irani, Portuguese and even Goan influences, not only makes the cuisine eclectic but also very interesting. Luckily Cyber-Hub in Gurgaon is dotted with a lovey Parsi food restaurant at ground floor, famously known as SBOW (Soda Bottle Opener Wala).

This salubrious café is quaint, specializing in all Parsi delicacies especially doing wonders with egg dishes. The antique wooden panels and mirrors, bentwood chairs and glass-topped tables with red&white crisscross, don’t seem to have changed which give its a stereotypical  look. It’s mostly peopled by friends & relatives of cyber hub crowd but yes now a days its attracting people form different places because of its food. Parsi Omelette is called “PORO”. They have launched yummy egg dishes like the world-famous Eggs Kejriwal and Eggs Bheeda par eeda.

We kickstarted our saturday breakfast with sunshine morning at SBOW. We came with a thought process to try maximun of their newly launched BF dishes. Me being a vegetarian/eggitarian,thought of laying back but after going through their foodies menu (full of exotic food descriptions) , i had a big smile on my face. So here a short review of my experience with BAWA breakfast 🙂

  1. Navsari-style French toast (4/5) –  It was a parsi-style french toast spiced with wedding pickle, cream and plums.
  2. Bharuchi Paneer Akuri (5/5) –  This was a showstopper dish for me, as it tasted out of this world. soo tempting and lip smacking scrumptious. In simple words, it was a paneer bhurji but yes in a innovative way.
  3. Chicken chili Cheese pav (4/5) – This was homemade pao’s topped with tomato sauce , chilli, cheese and chicken. Tasted good.
  4. Eggs Kejriwal (4/5) – We tried it just to see their innovative way but found it a common dish. Its a mushroom cheese toast.
  5. Raasta Sandwich (3.5/5)– It tasted fine, but can be improved. baked in homemade multigrain bread stuffed with tomato, cucumber, lettuce and beetroot slices.
  6. Angry Poro (5/5) – This was again a eggeterian Showstopper dish. Parsi style omelette with red chutney, spring onion and bharli mirchi.
  7. Meaty Poro (5/5)- similarly like above it has flavors of ham, bacon and cheddar cheese
  8. Masala fries (5/5)– They tasted so good because of their spices. They use home made spcies 🙂

Collag3collg1

In Smoothies, i tried my hand on Bawi’s Detox, which is a refreshing drink made of Raspberry , orange juice and Parsley. As the name suggest its a perfect detox and has different taste wrt to other drinks like Masala Lemonade, Beetroot smoothies etc. To try Irani dish the best side drink is Chai or coffee, so here we tried Irani Chai (5/5) and Phateli Coffee (5/5).

collg2Lastly in Deserts we tried, Coconut & Raisin Cake (5/5), Double chocolate chip cake (4/5) and Mawa Cake (5/5).

This place is best for food lovers and also to see the skilled expertise servers which being impaired are best in their own way !! Hats off to them 🙂

Philtre..??a love potion ? Wanna try ?

Yes friends, am back with my next review of newly opened restaurant in gurgaon’s happening place, Sector 29. As we all know this place is full of newbie’s with different concept so yes lets welcome Philtre , which means ” a drink supposed to arouse love and desire for a particular person in the drinker”, in other words a love potion.

This place is full of aroma be its ambience, concept, food presentation. They have a ancient era funda behind every drinks and food. Theme of this restaurant is related to an old era with fascinating paintings on the wall, decorum and bar arrangements. They don’t believe in using glassware to match their old era concept and hence go for  Brass, ceramic and other metals which were famous for crockery.

Food & drinks menu is wide and has lot of different exotic names to it. Every food item is served along with its presentation & preparation story, which not only excites us to try it but also makes us feel good to eat what we know.

Drinks were customized according to our choices, be it a mocktail or a cocktail and presented beautifully in different ways like in mocktails we had:

  1. Piney Basil slush : Its a must try
  2. Asian Sapphire
  3. Cold coffee

Similarly in cocktails we tried :

  1. Botany of Desire : Must try
  2. Midas Touch

DrnksComing to veg starters, we had

  • Beetroot crisps (4/5): Nowadays many restaurants are playing with beetroot and creating good dishes, this is yet another one of those. Thinly sliced battered beetroot golden fried served with bhel and mint chuttney.
  • Cholle chawal bites – This was something new to me, with a crispy fried layer full of spicy chole rice mixture. Spices were little on high end but yes loved the fusion.
  • Rajma Galouti – This was a different style to present galouti dish with fast food fusion. Placing rajma galouti kebab over in-house nachos was very innovative. Taste was literally lip smacking and delicious.

In non veg starters, the all time fav of my hubby was

  • Lamb chops(5/5) – One of the best and softest lamb chops that he ever had. Melted in mouth, and full of aroma and flavors. These Lamb Chops were a showstopper dish.
  • Maggi Fish Finger (4/5): My favorite dish, fresh fish battered with Maggi and fried golden, served with tartar dip. Amazing.
  • Butter Chicken Fondue (4/5): Another nice dish. Fried minced chicken fingers served with butter chicken gravy.
  • Lucknowi seekh (4/5): Yummy double seekh kebab filled with cheese at the center. Amazing.

In mains we ate, Maggi Prawns (5/5): Perfectly cooked prawns inside you very own Maggi. Must try for prawn lovers. Lamb Croquettes (4/5): Having nicely spiced and minced lamb inside crispy crust outside. Served with rogan josh gravy. Falafel Curry (5/5)-(both veg & non veg), this was a new fusion concept wherein the gravy was so creamy and  falafel carried its own crunchyness. Not an easy task so well done chef and a must try. Machir Ghunto(5/5) – Its a pulao with fish texture. Authentic to its taste and aroma. Was delicious.

Last but not the least , dessert was the USP here. We had In Desserts we had Litchi Rabri panna cotta (4/5): Served with Saffron foam and crispy almond tuile. Chocolate Desire (5/5): It was a cylindrical shaped chocolate flavored dessert sprinkled choco chips and served with fruit sauce,It had right amount of chocolate in it, was not much sweet and not much dark. Must try for chocolate lovers. Kulfi Falooda (5/5): A full platter of falooda served with various food items like fresh fruits, Malai peda and Paan flavor , which made it the showstopper in desserts. It was scrumptious and very refreshing.

Service was really quick and servers knew what they are serving which makes it more presentable. Before leaving the chef visited us to know our experience, presented us with something i can nevr forget, Gur Candies, have a look 🙂

Friction..the drinkery @ Sector 29, Gurgaon

Friction is a newbie in Sector 29 market Gurgaon with the promise to serve people with long lasting memories. Its located near IFFCO metro station, with ample parking space and placed next to After Stories. It has 2 level seating with adequate bars on both floor. Seating is very cosy and comfortable with exotic interiors. Service was really quick and its important to mention the politeness of servers.

Songs played at right chords in accordance to ambience. Led’s are setup to enjoy your time while watching favorite sports.

Coming to food, we started our weekday evening with few refreshments including

  • White Wine Sangaria(4/5)
  • Virgin Mojito(5/5) – Full of refreshment and tanginess required. Must to try
  • Chilli Guava(3/5)– the Tabasco content is on higher side so felt it more chilly , hence can be improved.

In Snacks we tried, Oven Baked Nachos(4.5/5) -which were crispy inhouse nachos layered with cheese and sauces. Veg Salt and Pepper(3/5) –  I personally think it can be improved by adding some fusion to it.It didn’t go much with my drinks. Dahi Kebab(4.5/5)-  I just loved the fusion of dahi ke kabab with beetroot. It has authentic flavour with sweet tanginess. Duo Paneer Tikka(4/5)– It was authentic to its grill and taste. Veg Quesadillas(5/5) – I personally loved them as it was soft and full of veggies which perfect flavor. Served with lip smacking sauces. Thai Spring Rolls(3/5)-  I think they need a little makeover as spices were less and couldn’t match to authentic flavor.

In Main Course, we had Dal Makhani & Paneer Makhani with assorted breads. Both the dishes were authentic to its flavor and taste. Perfect spices and colour made it scrumptiously tempting. They were served with jeera aloo sidings and salad.

20171108_201049
Last but not the least was desserts which made my evening sweeter. We had Apple and Cinnamon Cigar Rolls(3.5/5) – a good try to give it a fusion look, but yes can be more improved. Choco Chip Fudge Brownie with ice-cream(5/5) – was winning dish for me being lip smacking delicious. Hot Chocolate Waffle(3/5)- Authentic to its look and taste. All the desserts are highly recommendable for people like me with sweet tooth.

Presentation of food is amazing and quantity is worth for 2 people. Will definitely visit it again and recommend to all my foodie lovers.
