Cafe Wanderlust… A Culinary Journey !!

Tucked in one corner of Galleria, this is the lone & fun travel cafe in Gurgaon!  Cafe Wanderlust‘s decor is idiosyncratic , focused on people who love to explore and try new delicious delicacies. Its located at the back side of Galleria ,1st floor and seems just like a typical cafe but they have quirky ambience. They have sufficient space which looks bounteous, because of its seating arrangement, ranging from bean bags to old steel chairs to Hanging Jhulla & Egg chairs. Walls are covered with book shelves and customers valuable comments. Games are available to sit and play while your order gets prepared. This makes the customer use his or her time in meaningful way. Sometimes you may find paper and color pens to draw and write not just about the cafe but anything.

The cafe is filled with travel & food related books which again you can read and enjoy with your food. The cafe has focused on every minute detail to keep its customer engaged. The menu is full of pictures of food items they serve along with small description of its history. The cafe is vegetarian. They serve different continental platters for breakfast. The food is not at all oily and has perfect blend of spices.

Best part of their food is, its served with so many sidings, like chutneys of Apple, mango, dhaniya, then Kaanji, raita, pickle etc. So many ways to flavor your food as per your tongue. Sweet to tangy to spicy. We have kicked off our evening with scrumptious delicacies like:

Banarsi Kachori

Taken from streets of Banaras & served with dash of innovation. Four soft kachoris filled with banarsi masala, served with spicy aloo subji & 6 kinds of dips (Methi, Dhaniya, imli, apple cardamom, papaya pickle & raita). Banarsi masala is in-house prepared using ground fresh spices.

Amritsari Cholley Bhature

Everyone and especially punjabi’s all time fav homemade cholley with freshly done bhature. Imli chutney & raddish pickle add a tangyness to it making it more eatsome. Best part of this place is all the masala’s are inhouse. The taste and aroma spring from age old recipes from traditional household.

Don’t Die with Dieting….instead try DIET KITCHEN !!

Blogging is about giving more than it is about getting.

Diet Kitchen as the name suggests, serves the healthy and nutritious food, which is best of their kind. It’s an outlet in Gurgaon whose website display all the calorie and fat content, so the customer can carefully choose what they want to consume.

Generally, when we are hungry we crave for junk food like pizza, pasta, burgers, but never thought all this can be prepared and eaten in healthy way too!! They make nutritionally balanced meals, calculated to the core, which are just perfect for every person.

We recently got to order few food items from Diet Kitchen & everything was lip smacking.

Let me first say that food was delivered on time and was still hot (5/5). So in home deliveries this is first requirement which is superbly fulfilled by Diet Kitchen Team. Wraps, Pizza and Pasta were packaged and sealed nicely with no leakage. It was easy to handle and open. The packaging (5/5) impressed me as everything was nicely placed in the box, which had some paper napkins, sauces and disposable cutlery.

The food ordering process is straight forward and simple.  As a vegetarian i have become accustomed to a limited choice but this is certainly not the case with the Diet Kitchen. You can choose from their vast choice of sandwiches/burgers/pasta/pizza and many more meal options according to your own dietary requirements and preferences. They serve both Veg and Non veg options.

I shared my order with my parents. Generally, we don’t eat outside or ready meals, so i was skeptical about how good the food would taste, i feared they my parents will not like it, but was soooo happy when my father said I just loved the Pizza. Everything were delicious & lip smacking!!

We ordered the Potato Gainer Wrap, features a stuffed portion of Potatoes, green chilli, capsicum, onion ,sauces, wrapped with a hexagonal fold inside a flour tortilla and grilled. It was lip smacking & healthy too. There’s nothing new here in the way of ingredients but there’s some novelty in the combination. Next we tried Grilled Paneer Soya Veg pizza, which had no cheese and a very thin base crust. It was loaded with paneer, soya chunks & all gourmet exotic vegetables like bell pepper, onion, capsicum & other veggies. Cheese missing went unnoticed as it was scrumptious. Penne Mushroom Mix Sauce Pasta” served with 2 small brown breads. It was full of wheat pasta and mushrooms. It was too yummy & delicious. None of the ingredients got overwhelmed by the others.

As per the quality and quantity of food (serves2), I think the prices are justified. This place is healthy destination for all food lovers, who can eat whatever they want in a healthy way. Highly Recommended!!

Pier 38…Best place to enjoy nightlife !!

Pier 38, the Bar & Kitchen is recently opened in DLF cyber hub @ 1st floor. Pier 38 as the name signifies the Piers that have been traditionally used for Trade between India and various other countries, Persia being a prime partner. This place serves some delectable Persian, Arabian, Lebanese and North Indian cuisines with Signature cocktails in town.

The bar features a rustic décor with soothing brown feel, warm gold lighting and very comfortable seating with myriad options such as lounge, sofa, bar, high chairs, etc. The influence of an actual Pier (Dock) can actually be seen in the interiors. Music is an essential part of the aura of every pub, and here at Pier 38, to compliment the warm interiors, major focus is on Sufi and coke studio style of music. The nightlife here is amazing.

The menu is quite diverse for both veg and non veg. They serve delicacies like Salads, Pita Pockets, Mezze Platters with delicious Hummus & pita, Persian bbq dishes, Turkish Pides (pizzas), Indian Starters & Arabic Main Course.

I visited here for a Saturday brunch with my family. We started with the Veg Mezze platters. It was a 3 layer presentation with falafel tikki, cheese Sambousek (shape of samosa), & potato kibbeh (shaped into oval balls) on the top, served with hummus, tzatziki & muhammara dips on the second, followed with Pita bread. All the servings were lip smacking, crunchy & well cooked with each flavor standing out. The hummus was very tasty and made us binge on it. After finishing it we had Palak Patta Chaat which was beautifully served, tasted crisp & delicious. It is highly recommended. Then we had Batata Harra, which was delicious square oven potato coated with spices, one f the best appetizer from the Lebanese cuisine.

Next one was something we visited here to taste, “Pide” (pronounced pea-day). Get more over Pizza’s and be here to try Turkish pizza peynirli, that are baked in a stove or wood ovens and have veggie fillings (onion, tomato, spinach, mushrooms) with mozzarella cheese. Its shape resembles a ship, so significant to this place. I personally liked it. Well cooked & crunchy.

Along with the food, we tried few of their Signature cocktails, Tequila Coffee which was warm coffee best for winters, & Mary 38 the classic Bloody mary with fresh tomato juice.

Along with cocktails, we had best of the mocktails too. Italian smooch which is summer special exotic cooler drink, Spicy guava having perfect spiciness with guava flavor, Lemongrass IceTea & Pier 38 fruit punch.

In the main course, We tried Chelo kebab with Saffron rice & sideways salad. Veg Kafta which was again served with same rice tasted tangy and well flavoured from inside.I personally liked it. Again next was Paneer Bademjan, which was curry paneer skewers. Nothing was a miss and tasted yummy. Everything was nicely presented & was delectable.

Desserts: Bringing our culinary extravaganza to an end, there were Nutella Cigar Rolls , which were quite different and full of chocolate. Since I have a sweet tooth, I just loved them. Baghlava with Dates ice-cream, had same tradition & authentic flavor, tasted awesome.

Portions: (4/5) They provide good quantity portions, so you don’t have to worry for it. Each item ordered can serve 2. Presentation: (4/5): Food was nicely presented with all fresh leaves and icings. Service: (4/5) Service was really good and servers even knew a lot about the dish.

Prices:  INR 1200 for two {approx.}
